Holiday Camps
Term ends. The campus does not close. Camps run through the breaks on our own grounds.
Kenyan school holidays are long, and work does not pause for them
The April, August and December breaks run for weeks. For a working parent that is a logistics problem; for a child it is often a month of screens.
From our founding year, camps will run on the same campus, with the same staff, using the track, the fields and the hall that sit empty otherwise.
How the day is shaped
Long blocks rather than a timetable of ten-minute activities — children settle into something and stay with it.
- 8:00 AM
Drop-off and a slow start
Doors open before the working day does. Children arrive into free play rather than straight into a scheduled activity — it takes the edge off a holiday morning.
- 9:30 AM
The main strand
One thing, done properly, for most of the morning: a build in the STEM strand, rehearsal in the arts strand, or skills work on the track. Long enough to get past the fiddly first hour.
- 12:30 PM
Lunch and the field
Eating outside, then unstructured time on the fields. This is the part most children describe when they get home.
- 2:00 PM
Something they did not choose
A deliberate swap into the other strand — the sporty child paints, the quiet child gets on the track. Short enough not to be a chore, long enough to surprise them.
- 4:00 PM
Collection
Wound down, cleaned up, and handed back with an account of what they made or won.
The same track, the same fields, the same hall — without the timetable.
